Well they sent me the BFSP bases when I ordered the regiment box so I used the troll base as one. That worked out pretty good! I do have a crap ton of random bases so I could try that. I'll let you guys know what I come up with.

"The Chase" by GW could also be a good unit filler. I want to do it, but I just don't have time.

Okay! I finally got some pictures loaded up and here is what I have been working on. Bear with me because I really didn't want to get anything paint untill i get things assembled. Okay first are the unit fillers for my "Grey Goblins". (I'm using NG models but based on my own fluff I am making them interchangeable for real goblins. I'll explain more of that later on. Besides being poor). Here are two of the four I am working on. Here is how I plan to lay them out. This way I can purchase just one more box of Gobbos and have 4 Hordes. Got this bad boy put together this weekend too. He was ridiculously fun to put together and I just love the pose with the base. I am going to go for an Banana Spider paint scheme so I am really excited about this guy. I want to use my "Grey Goblins" on the howdah but the more I think about it the more I want to use the Forest Goblins for this and the spider riders. So I can do an all Savage army later on. Last is just a little snippet of the Characters I will be using. The guys on the end are fitted with Double-Axes but they are kinda hard to see. I'll get some better pictures as they get painted. Borgut there was my test model and I am pretty pleased with him. Once against sorry for the quality of the pictures but I will get more up as I get things assembled.

Here is the design that I am thinking of useing for my Arach. I scoured the internet for real spiders that I like and I really feel that this one will pop on the battlefield next to all my units of grey and tartan designs.

Very cool! I like the unit fillers and I like the characters! I agree that the spider is just crazy fun to put together. It's brilliant how they designed it. I'm very impressed.
Mantic Games is doing Orcs and Goblins and they are considerably cheaper than GW. When they do officially come out, you might want to look at their gobbos.

I was absolutely thinking that about the mantic Gobbos! I'll get the next two done soon along with a mother unit of Orcs. Probably this weekend. Then, I start the painting.

Okay everything is assembled. Managed to get ahold of three more trolls and will have some more Fanatics soon.
Decided to go to work on the Spider first even though the League we are doing come summer is starting at 1000pts. Decided to use liche purple instead of the organge to give it a more menacing look. I'll have pics up soon.

Okay, here she is, "Maragog Da' Snatcha" all finished. It was probably one of the most fun models I have ever worked on. I still have the howda to do and the Gobbos. I am going to run a pin through two or three of the gobbos and then into the back of the spider because it simply will not fit into even the biggest of the ArmyTransport foam bricks. (4in tall without the Howda). Also provides me with a unique oprotunity to order another howda, crew and do a flinger attachment.

Nice work! Large models are not easy. I think the howdah and gobs will compliment it nicely. Can't wait to see it.

I kinda like Chuck's spider from the Waaagh! Cast. The Howdah-less spider looks really cool. I'd put the crew scattered across its back though with spears and stuff.. Really neat model anyway its built. Yours looks really good. I like the purple. Your highlighting on the black is clean. Nice job. Hard to pull off well.

You know, the more I stare at the howda the more I hate it and I did think about just scattering them all over the model and use thread as spider web holding them all on. Kinda a Fremen of dune thing. The fluff actually described that's what they used to do. Ill keep you guys updated but at the moment I'm going ape on my old school boar boys and a stone thrower. I'm so horrible. All I'm doing is cavalry and rares. Guess that's the advantage on a tournamentless island.

Here is the big girl I posted on another thread. There is still more goblins to add to her in various states of chaos running all over her. Just finishing up a set of old school boar riders which I sill get posted up soon. Also kinda tinkering around with two Orc chariots. Combining them to make a crazy ass Pumpwagon.

Very Cool! I love the goblins and how they contrast against the spider.
I did feel an initial twinge of sadness after reading your above text and seeing that the 'rope' didn't have hooks which went into the carapace a'la Sandworm Riding but it does look really good attached to the legs.

I may eventually pull the string off and do that but that will be after I get the rest of the Gobbos attached perminatly. The idea absolutley occured to me but for now the idea is they are useing spider webbing to do it. Its going to be a wip for some time.
