So I figured I start something here with the idea that it'll keep me motivated and get this army done. The idea behind my version of High Elves is that because of being a dying race, these lads never get a day off. I wanted that Star Wars dirty universe look, since a tour of duty around here could be 20 years. It'll be a red theme that would have the armour a little worn and a Caledor look that helps with the grim muted look for the army. I haven't decided what colour the cloth should by as I'm trying to stay away from white, but Shadow Grey is in first place so far. My mage beside a couple test models: 42 Swordmasters: Lots to do yet... Swordmasters after highlights. Wanted a cold steel look to the swords so they are washed in Asurman blue. Still can't decide on colour of cloth. Still have the faces, eyes, red highlights and clothing to do. I'm already getting tired of gems.

So anyways, the Swordmasters are basically done except for basing. I'm not sold on the banner and may paint it a different colour as it seems like too much red. Anyways, on to the Archers and Lothern Seaguard next.

This the squalie from everywheeeeere. Ya', that's me. Glad you like them, but I didn't like the blue -- it looked too much like denim. I have now switched to black as I wanted a darker/used look in the first place. Once I have the Archers and Dragon Princes done, I'll post pictures of them all.

Ok, so I've been busy. It's amazing how much painting I get done listening to podcasts! ;D First thing I did was to change the colour of the army from the blue clothing to black. The blue just looked like denim and wasn't serious enough. I wanted these to look like the most worn, angry looking High Elves you've seen. Didn't like the red banner either. I have the unit of Lothern Seaguard to finish and the BSB and that's it! I'll post an army picture when I'm done. Swordmasters: Archers: Dragon Princes: Bolt throwers: (This one has a Dragon painted on his targeting instructions with a big red "X" through it): Eagles:

Wooooooooow! Inspiring! So clean!
Is all the shiny armour benefitting from the light source in the pics, or is the armour actually shadowed?
Are you going to use flat spray?
Love the "dragon = bad" directions for the bolt thrower. Perhaps address the moldline on his hood? Only noticed because everything else is so spot on.
That IS a lot of gems!!
Excellent work! Swordmasters are just stunning.
