Ah, those Shredders, I guess. I just went to take a look. Man, I should have known about them sooner!
If I had two more Arachnarok horns, I could put them on the Manglers.

Is that a 3rd edition white styrene goblin archer in the back of that chariot!? Love it! I knew it was an old one, but didn't know it was 3rd Ed! I bought a small lot of random OnG minis ages ago and it came in that. I wasn't sure what I would ever use it for, but the old Chariot seemed perfect. The Chariot is quite small, but so is the mini! I figured it would look better with lots of old minis. walkstheweb: I love those Shredders as Mangler Squigs! I'll be at the PBKW tournament tomorrow and I'll look to see if they have those in the store. Found a better picture of them:

Yea! Those are them! Two of them I think will fit on a 40mm base pretty well and I plan on chaining them together when a fanatic being dragged on the ground behind them. Havent had much time to work lately with the new baby but this will be the first project I work on when I come back. The price is totaly right at $7 for a blister of 2!

Why on 40mm bases? The rumor mill says that GW tested them on 60mm bases. It makes sense as a regular Giant Cave Squig goes on a 40mm square. A unit of Mangler Squigs is at least two of them chained together. Also, the round bases are not as big as the square. I just tested it and a 40mm base fits on a 60mm base without much room to spare.

Yea, I did mean to say 60mm, terribly sorry.

Dan R. said that those guys are going to be a bit small. That's a shame. I did order some and I will probably use them, but I also have another Mangler made out of a Cold One. I might use that one, too.
Oh, and I glued 2 magnets onto the 60mm base. I then used 2 Squig Hoppers to attach to the base to complete the Mangler Squigs unit. The two Manglers that I made from Cold Ones are the same pose and I just can't add them as it would look bad. It looks pretty good!
I also cut the horns off an old 6th Ed starter head and glued the horns onto my big Mangler. It came out pretty good! I had enough people say it looked fine so that I might just keep my retarded tadpolls.
I also got a lot of great feedback on my Arachnarok. Some of the compliments weren't even fished for! I need to finish the howdah....

I had a tournament last weekend and I wanted to get some painting done for it. There was no painting score, but I wanted to get some things done. Part of it was I had two old units of wolf riders with spears, but I had a hard time recalling which wasn't actually equipped with spears. So, I had to convert them to have hand weapons. They paint job was so bad, too, that I had to touch it up. I had to remove mold lines and all that. I recently got some gesso instead of primer and it was great to spot prime some of the stuff I filed off. First, here is a picture of untouched wolf riders: Next, here are some pictures of the new wolf riders: I still need to go back and add some highlights to the weapons. I used a scimitar from a skeleton hand and two 40k choppas that normally go on belts or something. I clipped them off their hilts and glued them on to a bow hand. I left the bottom of the bow part for a hilt. It was quite an easy conversion. I had used some different weapons before, but prefer to use the 40k stuff. Also, you can pick up the bitz cheap. I also got my Mangler Squig to a decent spot. I still have only put on a base coat and a wash. I need to go back over it and make it look much better, but I think you get the impression as to what it looks like. I'm still not happy with the face, but what can I do? I did take an old 6th Ed starter set orc head that had a horned helmet. Those heads are just too big for the model! I clipped off the horns and used them on the squig. I also glued rare earth magnets onto the base of the Mangler so I can use the Hoppers for Mangler parts or regular hoppers. I only have cold ones from the lizardman set and they are all mono pose. I just couldn't stand two of the same on the same base. I also touched them up as they needed it bad. Once again, I only touched them up and washed them. Oh, the skin is done, but that's it. I have been working on my howdah yesterday. I have put the first coat and wash on. I then need to go back and highlight the web and skulls. I've also prepped and primed my gobbos to go on it. This part has gone quicker than expected. I read in the one White Dwarf I buy (the new OnG issue) how they did the wood. Just scorched earth and dry brush graveyard earth. Add wash. I love it! I've also got some repairs to do. A metal stone troll snapped at the ankle and a gobbo lost an arm. I hope to have more pics up by end of today.

Oh man. I really like the purple wash, blue eye, and red "streak" work on the Arachnarok. I also am inspired by the night goblin riding the giant squid. Love it.

Actually, no purple wash. I did try to work with Gore Red and the airbrush, but it didn't come out as well as I thought. It came out a bit purple-ish. Still, I think the overall effect is good.

It's been slow going this week, but I am almost done with some squigs. The handlers need some attention, but that's next week....maybe. My snotling's birthday is next week. I still need to do the bases on these guys. I've got to flock it and such. Still, I had a quiet moment with everyone else asleep that I can take these pics and post 'em. I just used Mecharite Red for the base and did a black wash. I then highlighted with Blood Red. I'm pretty happy with the results. I am incorporating The Chase into this. I'm going to count the baby squig as a goblin for mini purposes, but I wanted to do something with it. I really like how I painted the squigs, though: I'm going to put them in the rear. You can kind of see in this bad picture: Also, I had a hard time with the tails and getting some to rank up. I decided to just make one base for the tough ones and add them on. I like it as it kind of makes them look more like a swarm. It also saves me one squig, too, allowing me to field more if I want. I also have to say that I've always seen things in the background of other people's pictures that I would be so jealous to have. It wasn't until this morning that I looked over and saw that I think I might have reached that status! I've got a Grom chariot piled on top of a Gigantic Spider which is piled on 8 of the metal fanatics!
