I figured I might as well start a blog over here, too! I have one on Da Warpath, but I'm so happy with this model I just painted, I wanted to share. I think this is the best model I've ever done. Of course, once you see pictures of it zoomed in, you notice a few little touch ups you need to do. I've also had someone suggest I do some highlights on the gold. I'll do that. I don't think the skin really shows up as well as it does in real life. Please tell me what you think!

Truly inspirational! Makes me want to get my stuff together faster to start painting.. SOO much left..
How do you do your checker board so neat? I can never get that right!

Thanks! I appreciate it! Yes, I have a lot to paint, too. I want to paint a whole unit of 25 orcs before Adepticon (with unit filler) and I have the command group..... How did I do the checkerboards? Well, someone gave me a hint for the colors. I used Scorched Earth and Dheneb Stone. It's also worth it to invest in a good brush. I have a nice sable detail brush. Paint the Dheneb Stone down, then try to paint the brown checkers on. You will make a mess of it, so you touch it up with the Dheneb. That messes it up a little bit less, but you go back with the brown. You just keep going back and forth until you fix it well enough. Remember, though, they are orcs! It's OK to be messy with it.

I was thinking doing red and black checker for my Boyz along with black and blue for my gobboz. Considering everyone here on the island has suddenly stopped playing fantasy for 40K(grey knight feaver and a rather well organized Armageddon campaign) I have plenty of time to work on detail.
I have red and black Micron pens and I was going to use them for checkering. I'll let you know how well that works out. I was also going to do all my boyz in a black, red, grey and white tartan design for the ones that have kilts.
BUT! I absolutly have to get things assembled before I start painting because my desk is still crowded with boxes.

I found the micron pens need to be hit with a matte spray when done. Otherwise they are a bit shiny. So.....I decided to build a new Orc Boyz unit from scratch. I wanted to do something with conversions and something unique. I've never quite done something like this before and I haven't put a new Orc unit together in 4-5 years. My last paint job was pretty terrible, especially when compared with my latest goblins. So, with 3 weeks to go before Adepticon, I started to build a new unit. I had recently gotten a lot of 40k bitz, such as arms, heads, belts, etc. I also have a lot of the old 6th Ed starter orcs. I was using those bodies and I remember I like them a lot. They are a bit bulky. Yeah, the uni-pose is crummy, but I clipped a lot of arms or even just hands off and swapped heads. I think the effect was great. The theme is "Lug's Loota's"; a unit of looting Orc Boyz. Now, I have not used too many unit fillers and I don't like them just to avoid having to do more minis. I wanted something that was cool and really added some elements. I decided on a cart that was loaded with supplies that would be crawling with orcs. I have a friend (Mr Hovis who is helping run Bralwer Bash) who sold me some Hirst mold crates, barrels, and stuff. I could only find one type of cart/wagon online from any retailer (really, just one). The wagon ended up being a bit smaller than I expected. So, after the stuff crammed in it, I only got 2 orcs on the same base as it. I wanted to add more, but I am running out of time and it would just look too crowded. So, without any further adue, here's Lug's Loota's! s173.photobucket.com/home/heychadwick/indexThoughts? Opinions? I could show more details or single models if anyone cares.

I started work on some Mangler Squigs. The rules are that they are two Giant Cave Squigs chained together with some Night Goblins trying to control them. There is no mini yet and discussions on base size. Now, the regular Giant Cave Squig sits on a 40mm base. This is two of them. Rumors that GW tested on 60mm round bases are all over the interwebs. So, that's what I am using for mine. It sounds reasonable. I saw someone who used some old Cold Ones and made some squigs. I managed to get some free Lizardmen cold ones from OnceBitten. They are all uni-pose, though. I'm not that good with green stuff (as you can see) and not comfortable with changing their feet up. At least not now. So, I will probably use one of each of these guys on a base and try to put two regular Squig Hoppers on the base, as well. I won't glue them down. Maybe use a magnet. I won't put chains, either. This will be my temporary Mangler Squigs. So, I cut it in half and used green stuff to make the faces. I think they look like retarded tadpoles... I used the ends of NG bows for the teeth. I filed off the cap at the end. I think it will look OK when painted up. Maybe I can get that done before the tournament this weekend? This one is toothless at the moment. I found a Confrontation mini that would be an awesome Goblin BSB! I want to go with a cheap BSB and put him in a bunker in the back rank (right behind all my combat units). So, I am going with Common Goblins with shields and 3 Sneaky Skulkers. I think that this Confrontation mini is fuckin' cool! I can't believe that no one else has used him yet. The detail is great and it was a pleasure to paint. I just felt like I didn't have the skills worthy enough, really. Him with a Savage Orc Shaman that I recently painted. It's an old Orc Shaman with a bat headress. I'll use him as Savage until I get my new Wurzag painted. A shadowy pic of my Sneaky Skulkers:

I got my eyes on a few Warmachine Hordes models from the Everblight line to mod up as Manglers. Just need to get the arms removed from them. Eventually I'll get them done.
