Loved the cast. The real men of genius was pretty damn funny. I especially enjoyed Tom's little bit about snubbing my request for Teutogen Guard. It's ok though, if I had gotten Tom to let go of those models I would have been stuck doing a Middenhiem army. Good thing... I kid. Keep up the good work Bros.

We laughed and laughed while taping and playing that RMoG short. It is the first of many to come! We already have a few more in the can . There might even be a contest involving "Warhammers Real Men of Genius" coming down the pipe... Glad you enjoyed it Brian! Erik

Oh, and I for one accept your grudge. So I face off with Erik, Christopher with Kevin...and I'll have to find a third to take on Tom. Our actual third, Daniel the Web Master Tech Guru Matrix Master has never played. He's been listening to the show and his interest is certainly peaked, but that has only served to make his girlfriend like me less and less. Maybe I can get Chris Yu to represent Garagehammer...

Another great episode. Now you just need to learn to cut out the technical difficulties so you don't have to repeat the work! I like the long format, which is why Brohammer, and Garagehammer for that matter, work real well. It's gives you plenty of time to really dig in and have some great discussions. Looking forward to #4.

Just to let you know why the NC Masters League is based in Charlotte....is b/c it's actually the 3rd year of it running. It started out as a just Charlotte thing, but we started to include everyone in the state. So, we started it locally and it just kind of grew.
We have had no success in getting anyone West of the RTP area involved, though, so you can't really say that Raleigh/Durham is the "center" of the gaming area.
Chad is not going to run it if he is still working out of state next year. So, anyone is up to grab it. If you run it, you can organize it anywhere. We always liked Charlotte b/c we live here....but also we have a very supportive store.
Speaking of the store, we didn't hold the event in a warehouse (even if it looked like one). It is the location of the new store. The owner was having problems with getting the inspector to look at his place. This delayed things for months. He was suppose to be all set up in his new place in Oct or Nov. We planned it as his hold place was just too crowded. It will actually be a full fledged store once he gets it done.
Oh, just for the record, I came in 7th overall. I think if I had those bonus 2 pts for winning in my area, I would have done better. I could always post my battle reports if you want. I did a write up for Da Warpath that I could happily post here.

Yes, I thinking posting battle reps here is a great idea. I am sure folks would be interested in seeing them. Warehouse/gutted store... both conjure up the correct image imo. :> But I do understand that that wasn't the plan all along- to have the final tourney in an unheated, unplumbed, gutted store building in the middle of Dec. If the event is taken up by someone near RTP then it might reach out better to west of the the RTP. Hard to say though, groups are really splintered here in NC. -Erik

Heard about you guys on Garagehammer and really love the show. I quickly listened to all 3 episodes one after another. When is the next show going to arrive? Can't wait to hear how you guys fared over the holidays and what you are working on now.

If someone in central NC takes up the mantle of ownership, they could relocate it to wherever they want. The new store is open now, though, and it's a nice space. It has heat and plumbing. But, if you wanted to take it, you can challenge someone for ownership of it. Take it to the RTP area.
I always thought about trying to work with the local GW rep to see where stores and people are. Try to get more people involved.
Anyways, I never did post my battle report for it. Here goes:
Alright, so we had the tournament. There was a space heater that kind of worked. I did take my jacket off a few times throughout the day, so it wasn’t so cold inside. It did snow for about 5 hours outside, though nothing stuck. That’s probably for the best, though, as we had many out of towners that would’ve had a bad ride home if it did stick.
I think 16 players made it and it was great that we had an even number as we didn’t have a ringer. I brought my terrain to help with the tables and I think they were mostly alright. We tried to have one or maybe 2 special pieces on each table. All hills, forests, and rivers (not many of those) were normal.
My first opponent was someone who was just getting back into Warhammer after years away. He had a Clan Eshin Skaven army. His name was Daniel and he was quite a nice guy. He even gave me one of those glove warmers that you can get. The kind that start to heat up when they hit air? Well, I thought it was super nice of him and he was just great throughout the whole game. His army was:
Warlord on litter as general Gray Seer BSB Lvl 1 engineer w/ doom rocket
2 x 20 Slaves 2 x 30 Clan Rats 20 Stormvermin w/ halberds 2 weapon teams on some units (can’t recall): one flame thrower and one poison lobber 2 x 10 gutter runners w/ slings (screeners) 6 skaven scouts. Gutter runners? 4 Rat Ogres and handlers Abomination
BLOOD AND GLORY was the scenario. I had 7 Fortitude while he had 6. I pretty much had to kill his Warlord’s Clan Rat unit as it also had his BSB in it. I had all my banners spread out.
I had actually set the terrain up and it was my own stuff. My side had a Greenskin tower on my left flank. There was a woods just outside of his deployment on my left There was a Idol of Gork (or possibly Mork) between the center and right side.. He had an Idol directly opposite mine. In the middle of both of us on the right was a swamp. Oh, a Khemri Sandpit in the middle of the table that never affected anything.
I can’t remember who got the first turn, but I will say that I had great spells. I had both Foot of Gork and Warpath. I also had Waaagh! and ‘eadbutt. Nothing else was really worth noting.
We deployed in the middle and facing off against each other. I had a war machine in each third of the table on my side. There was space for him to put his scouts in my far, right corner, but I had a pump wagon near them.
For my first turn, my general’s unit got a 6 for Animosity and moved 6” forward! Nothing else that mattered that I can remember. I declared a charge on his screening gutter runners. They fled. I only moved 3”. Everything else moved up to cover his flanks. Those gutter runners kept fleeing towards the table edge, but eventually rallied right before the ran off the table. They did nothing the rest of the game.
Other than that, the pump wagon ran 11” towards the scouts in the corner! Well, I hoped it would distract the scouts for a turn before taking out a war machine. Oh, my giant had moved up and was still angled to charge the abomination that was in the middle of his line.
I spread out my magic and always saved Waaagh! for last. He usually reserved enough dice to dispel it, but it meant I got other spells off pretty easily. I cast Warpath and stomped a unit of Gutter Runners near his rat ogres. They failed their panic test and fled towards the table edge. They eventually fled off the board. Ha! I then was able to do it again and remembered the scouts in the corner. I stomped about half of them and they fled off the table! I also managed to ‘eadbutt his lvl 1 engineer for a wound.
For my shooting, I put 2 rock lobbas on his main unit. I caused about 2 casualties with each, even though one veered off and the other was a direct hit. My opponent was using a hydra for an Abomination and I just forgot to shoot it. I aimed the doom diver at it and brought the wounds it had taken up to 4.
On his turn, his abomination tried to go the 10-12” into my Warlord’s unit. He failed and ended short. He did trigger some fanatics who managed to take a couple wounds off him. These guys did nothing else the rest of the game except move away from everything. His Stormvermin charged into the side of my giant. This caused fanatics to come out and he landed on both of them! Twelve Storm Vermin died in the end. That took his unit down substantially. Also, his rat ogres and unit of slaves charged into my trolls. This caused only 2 trolls to be in contact with me and really hurt him.
I shut down his magic for the entire game. He didn’t get a single spell off. His shooting had the potential to be scary, but he scattered or didn’t do much. I can’t recall the details. His flaming weapon wasn’t near my trolls, which I was happy about. Oh, he did use his Doom Rocket to hit my Big ‘Uns. He killed a massive amount! I think it was 13 of them? It was ugly.
His Stormvermin caused 4 wounds on my gianta! I Yelled and Brawled, but he stayed. Ugh. The trolls had it better, though. His slaves didn’t do a thing. His rat ogres managed only 4 wounds. I regenerated 3 of them! I attacked his slaves and ripped a couple ranks off. I won combat by a lot. He wasn’t near General or BSB. Both units broke and fled! Well, the slaves blew up, but the rat ogres fled. I didn’t pursue as I was wanting to charge his Gray Seer’s unit next turn. I was also worried that they would be away from Ld for the rest of the game and just shamble forward. It was worth it to keep my battle line intact.
On my turn, I charged my Big ‘Uns into the storm vermin. Only 2 could get in and I failed to notice that my Great Shaman was on the end. Doh! Also, my Trolls charged the Gray Seer’s unit.
I was really tempted to cast Waaagh!, but that would make my general charge the Abomination, and I DIDN’T want to do that! So, I cast my stompy spells on the Abomination. My Great Shaman was in combat and couldn’t really cast much (like ‘eadbutt). I managed to stomp one more wound out of the Abomination. It had one left. My Doom diver managed to kill it! It caused the final wound! After that, I can’t recall what my rock lobbas did, but nothing fantastic. The abomination stayed dead, too!
The Storm Vermin went first. They killed the giant! He fell over and hit 3 of mine and 3 of his! He fell on my Great Shaman! I failed my Look Out Sir roll! He died! My Giant fell on my Great Shaman and killed him!!!!!! I also killed a few Skaven. I think I won the combat due to charging and killing a couple, but he held with BSB nearby.
The fight with the Gray Seer went well. He attacked and he managed to wound a troll. I killed a lot of Skaven. He rolled an 11 for his Ld test and fled. My trolls caught them. My trolls then lingered there for the rest of the game. That was one big unit of Clan Rats and the Gray Seer down! I thought the trolls were dead vs. the Rat Ogres and the ranked Slaves unit. They were fantastic!
On his turn, his general charged my BSB’s unit. He hit some fanatics and took a bunch of casualties to his unit. Maybe 2 ranks? Can’t recall the details. Also, his other slave unit charged my pump wagon. It died and he overran.
In the fight with my BSB’s unit, he had some crazy thing that prevented him from attacking and I was auto hit (failed my LD test twice). He didn’t take a wound, though, as my opponent whiffed his attacks. Oh, nets really helped make him S3. He didn’t kill that many. His assassin popped out and killed 3 Goblins. I killed a few of his. I was Steadfast and held.
In the fight with Stormvermin, he killed a few more Big Uns. I took him down to 3. I think we were tied with musicians. I was down to 9 models or so.
On my turn, I was able to charge my Warlord’s unit into his flank. I tried to charge spiders into the flank of the Storm Vermin, but needed to roll an 11 or something. I failed. Trolls went stupid.
We were very short on time at this point and quickly rushed things. I didn’t have anything to cast. I don’t think my war machines did anything of consequence (killed a rat ogre?). We got straight to the combat.
My BSB’s unit netted themselves. My General’s unit netted the enemy. I should have done it the other way as I had more attacks coming from my BSB, but oh, well. My BSB made his save at -2 and could attack that turn. He didn’t do that many wounds to me as he was netted. I did a lot to him. I had 14 goblins in the flank and disrupted his ranks and Steadfast. He didn’t have a good chance to stay. He bricked his Ld test and failed again with BSB. He broke and I auto-won!
I have to say that my opponent could not make a Ld test for most of the game. At all. He failed many tests. He had pretty terrible luck for most of the game. I had FANTASTIC luck most of the game. I got great spells. My war machines hit almost every time except maybe twice. I rolled well. It was really good. My opponent had a great attitude and smiled through the whole game. It looked as if he was having fun. It was nice. I don’t know if I could have been that gracious. It was my best game of the day.
So, in the end, I got 18 points for full win. More to come later….

After the first game I ate lunch with my opponent and Erik, the guy who started the Brohammer podcast. We had a quick lunch and made it back. It was snowing by this point and was nice to look at. If anyone cares, we went to Taco-Bell. I will say that my bad foot was hurting me quite a bit and I kept taking more pain meds.
When we got back we were able to get matched up with our opponents. I played Zeke and his Dark Elf list. He had:
Lvl 4 Caster - Shadow Lvl 2 Caster – Dark Elf magic
I’m having a hard time after this.
2 x 20 DE spearmen? 20 Crossbowmen 2 x 5 Dark Riders 7 Cold One Knights 15 Executioners? The ones with halberds. Hydra 6 Shades
Sorry if I can’t recall the details too much. We didn’t get to mix it in too much and my memory is foggy.
The table was pretty bare. There was some impassable in the middle of my left deployment. I had a river that ran from the right table edge towards the middle of my deployment. It really messed with my deployment and I didn’t set this table up. I don’t think it was a good set up as the person who had my side was pretty fenced in. You can’t march across the river and you lose rank bonus in the river. So, it just messed with whoever had that side.
The scenario was DAWN ATTACK. He set up first and had most of his stuff in the center. His hydra was on my left. His crossbow unit was on my right (but kind of center-ish). I set up and my Warlord and goblins went on the Right flank. I put him as close to the center as I could. EVERYTHING else went in the center, except for a pump wagon. My center was split diagonal by the river, which was really frustrating. I had my Big ‘Uns on the far left of my center and gobbos in between. My trolls were near the general. Oh, I think my Giant was on the right, too. If it wasn’t, it soon moved that way.
So, this game saw my bad luck appear again. I rolled terrible rolls when I needed to. I figured I had two choices in this game. I could pull back behind the river and use it to break his ranks or I can rush him and try to get Waaagh! off. I was plagued with Animosity and couldn’t move a lot of my units at one time. Right after I tried an advance, my lvl 4 gets Animosity and I can’t cast. Right when I want to pull back, I get animosity on some units and can’t even pull them back. I basically got stuck almost where I started with and let him do what he wanted. Also, my war machines kept misfiring or just veering off target.
I was happy that I shut my opponents magic phase down for most of the game. That really frustrated him as he kept wanting to use Shadow magic to hex my units. He wasn’t really able to do that. So, at least I was able to frustrate him somehow.
His Shades and Hydra crept up my left flank. They killed the Spider Riders and Snotling Pump Wagon with ease. I was paralyzed with animosity and couldn’t cast. I also couldn’t shoot the dang hydra at all. It hit my Big ‘Uns and got into a nasty grind. It took most of the game, but the Hydra finally killed them.
My giant was getting shot at and moved to the far right to out flank him. He took 2 wounds from the crossbows, but really couldn’t be wounded by those guys. It was great. I finally ended up charging the giant into the crossbowmen who ranked up into a block. They attacked in hand to hand combat….and did four wounds! The giant fell over and killed 2-3. Too funny that the crossbowmen who couldn’t wound the thing with shooting were able to kill it with hand weapons.
There was a unit of Spearmen and his Elites that crept past the hydra to attack my goblin blocks. They took casualties due to fanatics, but no unit was destroyed. The elite unit was finally killed to an elf by the BSB and his unit that was trapped in the river (dang Animosity). The elites had managed to run off my short bow goblins with lvl 2. The spearmen then managed to break my BSB’s unit and run it off the table.
My trolls and Warlord’s unit were trying to engage the Knights or the rest of his center, but he kept teasing with them and they never got close. I had a hard time getting through the river to get to them. They never got to fight when we ran out of time.
Oh, his lvl 4 miscast early on and got knocked down to lvl 2. Then, he miscast and got sucked into the warp.
So, it was a big victory to him. I killed a unit of Dark Riders and his elite warriors. That’s it. He killed off most of my army. We were talking in turn two how he was going to win and how it was just a matter of by how much. I had some bad breaks when it was important. I was just happy because my opponent seemed really tweaked that he couldn’t get many spells off. He didn’t need them, but he really wanted to.
Oh, well. I was there to have fun. That one was OK, but I didn’t really have a chance.
