Howdy Folks,
I am Erik Lindley. If you are reading this then most likely you already know something about me, but I'll give you even more! ;D
I am 36 years old and married with 4 daughters. I have a lovely wife, Denise, who actually knows a lot about warhammer. During the day I am a mild mannered investigator with the local Sheriff's Office. At night, between diaper changes and bed time stories, I snatch a few spare moments for my hobby of choice- Warhammer!
I started playing D&D at a very early age (around 8). Like many others, it was my "gateway drug." into the genre. My older brother Kevin (and fellow Brohammer host!) got the starter set for Christmas. I am fairly certain our parents had no idea the impact that simple box of books would have on us!
A friend of mine collected warhammer figures and introduced me to the game in the early 80's. We used to put all of our models (all different races) in the middle of the table and pick teams like a school yard kickball game. Then we would hapazardly fight each other using whatever rules we happened to remember at the time! It was great fun.
I never got into the serious side of warhammer until many years later (around 2003). I was married and my wife and I were walking through a mall. I stopped in to a hobby store to see if they had a book I was looking for. There was a wall of miniatures in the store and Denise made the comment that they were interesting. I was amazed and said "Really? I have lots of those at home in the attic!" The rest, as they say "is history."
I was living in Indiana when I met Denise. There is a thriving warhammer community in the Midwest. There are tournaments and events all the time! I met many, many people who would become good friends while participating in those myriad of events. Eventually, I packed up the family and headed back down South to my North Carolina homeplace. Here we are. I have made many new friends in the hobby since the move while keeping all my old friends up North.
Brohammer as a concept started several years ago. Tom McClure and I used to talk a lot on the phone. We called it the "warhammer 10" as in - lets talk about warhammer for 10 minutes during the day. Since both of us worked in an environment that didn't exactly encourage discussion about little metal men, we hacked out a few minutes a week to bounce ideas off each other and such. I guess we could have used e-mail, but we didn't The spoken word is powerful.
Ever since I heard my first podcast about warhammer, I thought that it would be neat to do our own version. Kevin is the perfect co-Host (he lives close by and he is my brother!) with Tom as the frequent guest of honor and Brohammer was born!
I hope you enjoy listening to Brohammer as much as we enjoy producing it.
