As the thread title states.
I will be basing my new Dark elves in a snow theme. The way I have been doing snow is with PVA mixed with GW snow and make a paste out of it, then goop it on the base. Sprinkle with GW snow for a fresh snow look and your done. This is all good for small areas but for the larger base area I'm worried it'll look too flat.
I know Tom was using something different but can't find what he used. Anyone else know of ways of doing snow. Please don't say baking soda as it turns yellow after about a year. I don't want to have to rebase after a year.

Chris,
If you're wanting to do the majority of the base in snow (not patches like on my Daemon bases) and are worried about it looking flat, I think I'd suggest getting some Vallejo Sandy Paste (same jars as Vallejo Pumice, etc) and using that to build up the layers on your base...it works well with a sculpting tool and you can even work it into drifts, etc. It would also overcome the biggest issue with 'deep snow' bases of adding actual depth. I think then if you painted it white and did the normal glue and GW or WS snow to it, it would look ok. If you mixed some white acrylic paint right into the Sandy Paste, it will look better also.

For the snow I first cover the base with cheap bathroom rubberised grouting/sealent. (£1.00). press in the models feet so that they sink into it for depth. add and additional bit to taste. slate, spikes, weapons and body parts. paint the models and extras. thin some pva and cover where you want the snow. using a mix of 75% snow flock and 25% white glitter cover the pva. shake of excess after a few seconds. repeat 2 or 3 times to get a good coverage of snow that glitters in the light. hope this makes sense.
