Hello guys, I just wanted to say I enjoy the show. Keep up the good work!
I recently started a warriors of chaos army for 8th edition. I have bought the battalion. I have assembled and started painting them. The twenty marauders I equipped with hand weapon and shield with mark of tzeentch for a bunker for my sorcerer and battle standard bearer. I converted two of the twelve warriors into the two heros, then the rest of the warriors I equipped with additional hand weapon and shield. I have painted the warriors in a standard metallic so I can give them any of the marks though I will probably go for khorne to maximize their attacks. I had a chaos chariot that I had previously been using as a cold one chariot, which I will use as a warshrine and add the two warriors to the warrior unit. I have added some battle for skull pass dwarfs to the marauder unit to get it up to 33 and got some additional models for the warrior unit to get it up to 18.
I am on a budget and will have about 30 dollars at christmas to expand my force. So the question which way should I go? I was thinking a hell cannon, another unit of twelve warriors or 16 marauders. I would use the pyrovore model from the tyranid range for the hell cannon, it comes in at about 30 dollars. It is probably the best choice. I was also thinking maybe a unit of 16 marauders with flails and mark of khorne would be nice or another unit of warriors with halberds and shields.

Personal I would go with another unit of warriors.
this would give you 2 decent units that are survivable in lower point games.
save the hell canon till you are pushing 2000pts+.
Keep your options open with the chariot and have a few games using it as a chariot and a few as a warshrine and see what you like best. you can make a shrine out of anything but you would not want to go buying another charriot.
hounds for cheap deployments and flank gaurds are good aswell and come in boxes of about 16. I use a mix of chaos hounds and dire wolves for veriaty.

It sounds like you are playing low points cost games. A few tips for winning with the Warriors.
a.) Your Marauder unit is too small. Even with the 5+ ward from Tzeentch they will die real easy at S3/T3. In a game that now requires you to lose all of the figures in a unit to get points, your opponent will get easy points off of that.
b.) Warriors Warriors Warriors! The more the better!

Here is a tentative 2000 point list. I am trying to do this on the cheap, so I have basically added two potential units to my battalion and one character to get the list up to 2000 points. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the list before I spend any money.
general level 1 sorcerer mark of tzeentch, dispel scroll, ironcurse icon, and enchanted shield. He will go in the marauder unit. Cost 150 points
level 4 sorcerer lord, talisman of preservation, charmed shield, and power familiar. He will also go in the marauder unit. The level 1 and 4 both have same leadership, so i thought i would make the level 1 the general to take some heat off the level 4. Cost 345 points
exalted hero battle standard bearer mark of tzeentch, dragonhelm, shield and collar of khorne. He will go in the warrior unit to provide some protection from magic. Cost 185 points
Core:
Two units of five warhounds. Cost 60 points
One unit of 28 marauders with mark of tzeentch, shield, light armor and full command. Cost 220 points
One unit of 17 warriors with mark of khorne, extra hand weapons, shields, full command, and blasted standard (+5 ward vs shooting). Cost 389 points
Special:
One unit of five chaos knights with mark of tzeentch, musician, standard bearer, and lichborne pennent. Cost 265 points
One unit of four trolls. Cost 180 points
Rare
One hellcannon (i will be use the pyrovore model from tyrids range), cost 205 points
total point value 1999
I do not plan to play in any tournaments, just friendly garage games.
I took the trolls over another unit of warriors or marauders because I like the new troll models and I can use them to expand my orc and goblin army as well.

I like the list other than this choice 2 Sorcerers in a unit of Marauders. (all just opinion though mate). You're stacking all of your magic into one pretty squshy unit. It's asking for a Dwellers Below or other suitable Mega Spell. Every Play Angry Birds? The Pigs are gonna come and steal all of your eggs out of that one basket while you are off chopping $h!t up with your Warriors. Just some input...
Remember too....Chaos Sorcerors must Challenge, so if that unit gets in with a juicy elite unit with a choppy character in it...they're pretty much goners. Keep em mobile.

You make a good point maximus. There is alot of points setting in that marauder unit. I could give the level 4 mark of tzeentch and disc of tzeentch. I could set him behind the trolls, so if any cannonballs come my way they have to go though the trolls first.

I don't think you can wrong with just more warriors. Sword and board with mark of Tzeentch. It's solid. Halberds are amazing too.

1. You can protect your Sorcerer from challenges by purchasing a champion for the unit you intend to put him in. If the champ throws out the challenge first, you are free and clear. It should also be pointed out that he has chaos armor and 2 attacks at a good weapon skill. This is better than some of the characters you will come across. My sorc killed an empire sorc in a challenge recently, got an eye of the gods roll and made his unit of warriors stubborn.
2. I agree with the previous posters call for more warriors. They never let me down. I run a block of Ttzeench marked with shields as an anvil and a smaller block with halberds and the mark of khorne that I refer to as the blender, as they are great at "processing" any unit they come across.
