The First game was a complete disaster for the home team!
I decided to try lore of the wild. I had a GBS and a Bray shaman.. My GBS had everything except devolve, and bestial surge. My level 2 had Savage Dominion and Traitor Kin.
So First turn I decided to suck out his dispell scroll with a 4 dice toss of Savage Dominion. It miscast... So my ghorgon comes on the table, my shaman rolls a 3 on the table and gets sucked into the warp and my Ghorgon wanders back off the table. My main block of Gor with my Beastlord panic on a re-rollable leadership check. They fall back 10 inches and leave my Minotaurs alone with a chariot in the middle of the table facing his entire army.... My second block of Gor were in ambush.
His turn he charges my minotaur with 4 units. One large block of spearmen, a unit of archers or seaguard and 2 chariots. He destroys them and overruns into my unit of gor who were fleeing which destroys them. Game over as he destroyed 5 banners in 1 round of combat leaving me with 1 banner in a 2200 point blood and glory game.
Second game I played Lizard men. The player is the guy who has been adamant that the beastmen army is horrible. In 6 turns I destroyed his entire army except for an ancient stegadon, and a stegadon. I used Savage Dominion again to no avail and decided that Lore of the wild isn't for me.
Third game was against the same army I played first game. It lasted 6 turns and was a knock down drag out no holds barred fight. It was the mission where you have to roll for your deployment. My Great Bray Shaman and my harpies ended up on my left flank and the entire rest of my army ended up on my right flank. That left 3' between my GBS and the rest of my army.... harpies are expendable so I formed a line in front of the GBS so that I could get my GBS to my army... Ended up he got charged by a war eagle. The eagle did 1 wound, and then in my turn I buffed up my Minotaurs with Wyssans, and then my GBS with Savage beast and Pann's Pelt. Needless to say I destroyed the eagle.
My Gor unit in ambush, which I wont be doing again, came on right next to the cav that were about to charge my GBS. It turned them around and they had to deal with the gor heard. I Lost this game as the separation of my army killed me and his deployment didn't look anything less than a normal pitched battle. He had a banner of sorcery which made his magic phase ugly for me.
I lost by quite a bit but the game went MUCH better. I'd like to point out that Dennis, the High elf player is the #13 player in the US and #1 chaos player in the US... This guy can play so anytime he doesn't destroy me is a good hard fought game! I've beat his chaos with my Orcs and my Bretonnians so its not like I haven't won.
The two table were well spaced in the garage, the beer fridge was stocked and beer flowed.
Great time and even better games,
